How Custom are we?
Our skilled team of craftsmen has over 60 years of combined professional experience. We are familiar with many different materials and processes and can build almost anything from scratch. We can work from your designs or work with you in designing the perfect piece. Anything in our collection can be fully modified in material, configuration, design, and size. Looking for a one of a kind piece? We specialize in sourcing large and unique timbers custom to your needs. All of our custom furniture is made in our Vancouver workshop. Have an Idea? Step 1: Gather your ideas
Everything is 100% custom designed to fit your needs and budget. What is your vision? View our gallery & furniture collection for inspiration. Google Images, Pinterest and Instagram are also some great resources. Take rough measurements of your space, cardboard or masking tape on the floor can help you decide on measurements.
Step 2: Consultation - Collaboration
Once you have gathered your ideas, book a consultation with us at our studio-workshop. At our workshop we have a variety of wood & material samples that you can view in person. During the consultation, we will go over the details of your project, offer tips and provide a sketch & estimate. You can also tour our workshop, view pieces in production and see where the magic happens.

Step 3: Estimate Approval - Order Placement
Once the estimate has been approved, it’s time to place the order. We require an 80% retainer to add all orders to our wait-list. This reserves a spot on our wait-list and holds the materials for the job. J&S takes all forms of payment. Please reach out to inquire about our current wait-list timing. Please note all timing is an estimate.
Step 4: Production - We custom build your furniture
Once your order has come up on our wait-list, we will reach out to you with an update. If you requested a shop drawing, this will be sent to you for approval. Once approved your custom piece will take 1-2 weeks to handcraft by our team of carpenters. We appreciate your patience during the hand building process. Good things take time.
Step 5: Completion - Local pick up or Delivery by our team of professionals
When your custom piece is finished, we will contact you and arrange a time for pick up or delivery. For pick up please make sure you bring someone to help you, moving blankets, and rope. Delivery is available at an additional cost, the delivery will only be scheduled when the furniture piece is ready. Please note the balance of your invoice is due on completion. All invoice payments must be made before the furniture leaves the workshop.
Shipping - We ship worldwide
We take full payment before the item leaves our workshop. We work with a few different carriers to ensure we can provide you with a competitive shipping quote. Please note some assembly may be required. This is usually discussed during the consultation, but if plans change we can arrange shipping for your item.
